Using domestic coal series needle coke to produce large specification and ultra-high power graphite electrode
The reporter Ding Guanhua's correspondent Zhou Fengbing reported that the reporter learned from Kaifeng Carbon Co., Ltd. yesterday that the company's new technology of producing large specifications and ultra-high power graphite electrodes using domestic coal-based needle coke has passed the assessment of the expert group organized by Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and has achieved good results in production and application, filling the domestic gap. As of the beginning of November, the company has used more than 4000 tons of this pure domestic raw material, and the quality of the large specification ultra-high power graphite electrode produced has reached the international advanced level, which has greatly alleviated the problem of insufficient supply and high price of imported needle coke at home, and has generated good economic and social benefits.
Needle coke is the raw material for producing high-end carbon products such as ultra-high power electrodes, special carbon materials, carbon fiber and its composites. Because the core technology is monopolized by a few countries in the world, for a long time, needle coke, the raw material required for ultra-high power graphite electrode used by China's iron and steel enterprises, all rely on imports, not only the price is high, but also the quantity cannot be guaranteed, which seriously restricts the development of the carbon industry. Since the production of Kaifeng Carbon Co., Ltd., the localization of raw material needle coke has been a top priority. In the process of cooperation with relevant domestic enterprises, through the efforts of the company, especially the technical personnel, we finally fully mastered the core technology of using domestic coal-based needle coke to produce large specification ultra-high power graphite electrode in production practice. The technology was recognized as the first in China by the Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology and reached the international advanced level. As a high-tech industrialization project in Henan Province in 2009, the project of producing 600mm diameter ultra-high power graphite electrode with domestic coal-based needle coke was also accepted by the acceptance assessment team organized by Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology on August 22 this year. At present, the leading products produced by Kaifeng Carbon Company with this technology have successfully entered domestic and foreign steel enterprises, and the performance indicators of the products are equivalent to those of similar imported products.
